A group of Ukrainian bloggers visited a host of touristic destinations in Egypt upon an invitation by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as part of the country’s plan to promote the tourism sector, especially vai importing markets like Ukraine.

The week-long visit, which kicked off on 17 January, included trips to Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada, according to an official statement by the ministry.

In Luxor, the group toured the temples of Karnak, the Avenue of Rams, and the Temple of Deir Al-Bahari on the city’s West Bank, in addition to taking a Nile cruise under the city’s warm sunny atmosphere, the statement added.

They also visited the Citadel of Salah Al-Din in Cairo, the Giza Pyramids, and the archaeological site at Saqqara Necropolis. The bloggers also went on a tour inside the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

The bloggers expressed their pleasure with their experiecne, stressing that they felt safe, confident and reassured in “the seriousness of the precautionary and preventive measures applied by Egypt in all museums, archaeological sites and hotels against the coronavirus.”

Egypt has received 1.4 million tourists as of December since reopening its seaside resorts of Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Matrouh to international flights and foreign tourists last July after a three-month halt over the coronavirus pandemic.

Ukraine resumed its flights to Cairo last summer following months-long hiatus due to the pandemic.

In 2019, according to Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt, around 1.5 million Ukrainians spent their vacations in Egypt.
