The reality star, Kim Kardashian West recently shared photos from her 40th birthday celebration on a private island.
Inside Kim Kardashian’s birthday
“I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,” Kim wrote on her social media channels. Joining Kim on the island was momager Kris, sisters Khloe, Kourtney and Kendall, brother Rob and various partners, as well as family friends.
She said that after two weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, she surprised her closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where they could pretend things were “normal just for a brief moment in time”.
“We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realise that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is.”
Some backlash and humour
Some social media users still took issue with her taking an expensive trip to a private island in the middle of a global pandemic.
“Congrats on this nomination for most tone-deaf tweet of the year. You want normal? Try people unemployed, at food banks, teaching kids at home, or worse in the hospital by the tens of THOUSANDS! Oh, the plight of the wealthy and their struggle to an escape to a private island,” @beyondbrighton on Kim’s post.
Others responded with humour:
Declaring his love
Meanwhile, Kim’s husband Kanye West – with whom she has North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and 17-month-old Psalm – was not present for her actual birthday because of prior work commitments, but joined the trip for the final few days. He did, however, went on to declare his love for Kim in a social media post marking her 40th birthday on 21 October.
The 43-year-old rapper took to Twitter to share a throwback of his 2013 proposal at baseball stadium AT&T Park in San Francisco, and admitted he loves his significant other – who he married in May 2014 – “so much”.
