The First Lady of the United States (Flotus) Melania Trump has often been described as essentially being a bystander in her husband’s tumultuous administration, but on Tuesday, 27 October 2020, she hit the ground running on the campaign trail in Pennsylvania.
This is Trump’s first campaign event on her own for the year, less than a week before Americans cast their ballots in a fervently contested bid for the White House. Sporting an olive trench coat, the First Lady encouraged supporters in Atglen to give Donald Trump another term in office while also taking a dig at his political rival, Joe Biden.
The last time the 50-year-old former model appeared at a Trump campaign rally was June 2019, where she made brief remarks at the kickoff for his reelection bid.
Melania Trump slams Joe Biden
While some have questioned the extent of her stance in politics, Melania was every bit a Trump during her rare public appearance, accusing Democrats of using fear to achieve their agenda, ultimately at the expense of Americans.
“No one should be promoting fear of real solutions for purely political ends … The Democrats have chosen to put their own agendas over the American people’s wellbeing. Instead, they attempt to create a divide. A divide in something that should be non-partisan and non-controversial. A divide that causes confusion and fear instead of hope and security. That is not the leadership,”

Biden has openly criticised Trump for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, of which the US is the epicentre. The First Lady has called on voters to judge for themselves saying:
“Well, the American people can look at Joe Biden’s 36 years in Congress and eight years in the vice presidency and determine whether they think he will finally be able to get something done for the American people.”
Melania Trump further made mention of the president’s impeachment inquiry, saying it was another questionable move by the left to get rid of her husband.
“Let us also not forget what the Democrats chose to focus on when Covid-19 first came into our country. While the President was taking decisive action to keep the American people safe, the Democrats were wasting American taxpayer dollars in a sham impeachment,” she added.
Melania Trump: ‘I do not always agree with my husband’
Unmistakably more reserved and aloof than her husband, Trump also told supporters that she sometimes questions her husband’s unorthodox manner of doing things, but acknowledged that his constituency was receptive to it.
“I do not always agree what the way he says things, but it is important to him that he speaks directly to the people he serves,” she said.
