Ogun State Government will involve the private sector for upcoming forest regeneration and infrastructural development projects in Imeko and Aworo Forest Reserves.
The Commissioner for Forestry, Tunji Akinosi, revealed this when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, (NSE), Abeokuta branch in his office Oke-Mosan office.
He added that a total of 108,000 hectares of land had been approved for tree planting, games reserve, residential quarters and other physical facilities.
Akinosi said the Imeko and Aworo Forest reserves had been abandoned by government for long and are now encroached by various human activities, confirming that the present administration has been putting measures in place to develop and manage that reserve for adequate sustainability.
The NSE Chairman, Kolawole Olonade, said the Dapo Abiodun -led administration started on an impressive note, by giving notable attention to various areas of socio-economic development which already impacting positively on people’s lives across the state.
