The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Oyedamola Oke, has been appointed the acting vice-chancellor of the institution.
Prof. Oke, of the Faculty of Science, Lagos State University defeated the Deputy VC (Academics), Professor Wahab Elias, by 61 votes to 51 at today’s emergency Senate meeting attended by 113 professors.
He will pilot the affairs of the institution until a substantive Vice Chancellor is appointed. The need to appoint an acting VC came about after the process to select a replace for the last VC ran into problems.
Lagos State Governor and visitor to the institution, Babajide Sanwo-Olu last week cancelled the work of the selection team and ordered a fresh selection process.
