Whereas nature seems to be taking tolls in nations power pack in technological devices and human ingenuity against natural and man made disasters, ours are human and personality hurricanes.
While in Nigeria we sometimes wonder and ponder how God has been kind to us for less being prone to calamitous natural disasters, yet, our hearts bleed the level of unjustness of our rulers to fellow Nigerians.
While disasters blow and blast in Carolina and other states in the US as the Florence hurricane deluge, the Philippine trembles under the auspices of the raging typhoon storm and raking flood disasters.
Ours is the droves and flooding devices and tactical nocturnal moves of decamp, camping and caucuses of those Awo described as ,”Men of shady characters and women of easy virtues.”.
The assemblage in the Assembly is now a home for slicing of national cake in disparage sharing against being an assemblage of people mandated by constitution to engage in humanistic mental engineering about nation building.
Whereas in sane climes and their nations, safety of lives and property is a sinequanon in disaster preparedness and management , ours are a story of road diversion of ecological funds to suit only personal and family interests.
Ebenezer Obey once sang ” Ojo to ro to wole olowo tofi ti talika sile abi e ko raye lode”, so miraculous the rain that fell and swooped the houses of the affluents leaving intact those of the poor, what a surprise?
America, China, Japan and other advanced countries are today daily facing unprecedented disasters with calamitous impacts ,would the assemblage of our
politicians for once serve our national interest by coming together to discuss what becomes of Nigeria when the unbecoming finally becomes?
Could they for once drop their mere earthly powers, inordinate ambitions and positions and come back to discuss issues bothering on impending disasters already in forecast by meteorological and other related agencies?
Hmmmm I doubt if they will ever yield to wise counsel since they are much concened about elections, rigging and associated brigandage.
Anyway, Time will tell as Time will always tell how Nigerian politicians have failed their Creator in the destruction of humanism in the humans of Nigerians as members of same humanity God created for His glory.
God Bless Nigeria.
