A British company is under fire after sending COVID-19 word puzzles to a retirement home that included the words “fever,” “ventilators” and “job losses.”

The daughter of a 94-year-old resident who lives in Vyner House in York told the York Press she was horrified the puzzle was meant to be “just for fun.”

“What were they thinking, giving this to elderly people who have been isolating in varying degrees for the last seven months?” the daughter, who didn’t want to be named, told the outlet.

“We were so horrified we didn’t know where to turn. Some people who live there are on their own and the thought of going into a nursing home or on to a ventilator could be very frightening.”

Other words included in the puzzle included “bats,” ICU,” “vaccine” and “cough,” according to Sky News.

Accent Housing, the company which sent the puzzles to Vyner House and manages over 20,0000 homes across the U.K., admitted it was an “unfortunate mistake.”

“This was an unfortunate mistake which was not meant to cause any upset to our residents, but we appreciate it has and we are apologising to them,” a company spokesperson told the York Press.

“We recognise this word search was inappropriate and through some additional training we will make sure nothing like this is ever circulated again,” the spokesperson added.
